Development News – Mt Emerald Wind Farm Approved and Mareeba Airport Funding

Developers of major projects in the Cairns Region should be heartened by the news that the Queensland State Government has approved The Mt Emerald Wind Farm near Mareeba.  Planning Plus is not involved in this project however we are engaging with the Queensland State Government on a number of  potentially significant proposals that would be significantly boosted by  similar Government  support. The development is expected to “generate around $150 million of direct investment in Queensland”. At the peak of construction, the project could result in an estimated 155 jobs. These jobs will include roles in electrical, fencing, concreting, welding, plant and equipment operations, transport and administration.

In other news that is a  major boost to the Mareeba economy, Mareeba airport is set to be transformed into a serious aviation industrial precinct following a 13 million dollar Grant from the State Government. The development of aviation maintenance facilities and a major flight training centre for the North is set to be a major boost for the Tableland economy.

Both of these announcements will give added confidence to the Mareeba property market.
